SCARBOROUGH FUNICULAR CLIFF LIFTS
A Mod's Journey
"Scarborough (/ˈskɑːrbrə/ or /ˈskɑːrbərə/) is a town on the North Sea coast of North Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, the town lies between 10–230 feet (3–70 m) above sea level, rising steeply northward and westward from the harbour onto limestone cliffs. The older part of the town lies around the harbour and is protected by a rocky headland."
As a young boy, we would be taken for rides on these lifts by our parents and grandparents whilst visiting the North Yorkshire Coast. Happy memories. My Uncle has also, on occasion, been involved in servicing these long established lifts over the years so I have a particular connection to these engineering marvels.
Scarborough and Mod's have a long lasting relationship as a place of pilgrimage and the Italian Styling of a Scooter is just something that I can't get enough of. The start of a bigger project.
